Exhibition in the Mercedes-Benz Museum Stuttgart concluded successfully
A compilation of exhibition pieces focused on the topic of mobility and movement, showcased for just two short weeks in January.
The guest appearance of the MMM at the children's museum within the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart between January 6-24 was a great success. The compilation of exhibition pieces was tailored particularly to the museum's main topic of focus, mobility and movement. The Composer Machine became a Fitness Bicycle, the sounds of the Loop Disco fed off all sorts of forward movement and the Standing Wave revealed the movements of a musical tone.

The Mercedes-Benz Museum will be offering something new for kids in 2010 in the framework of the Museum Winter: Wednesday workshops focused on the topic of the automobile. We will also be presenting the interactive “ExplorExhibition: Sounding Bodies” in the Kinderclub on the ground floor between January 6 and 24, 2010.
Starting in January, there will be an exciting children’s program for kids of all ages every Wednesday between 3:00 and 5:00 pm in the Mercedes-Benz Museum. The Kinderclub will be offering a new educational program every month, from the kid’s tour through the “Faszination Technik” exhibit on innovations to a workshop on making your own paper museum model. Technological concepts will be explained to children in a fun and engaging way. The fee for participating in the children’s workshops is 6 Euros per child, with reservations requested in advance. We will be kicking off January with workshops on the interactive special exhibition on sound-making structures. Workshop participants will receive an introduction to the topic and a guided tour through the exhibition. The focus will be on experimenting with pitches, sounds, music and motion.
The special exhibition in the Mercedes-Benz Museum will be open to visitors between Wednesday, January 6, and Sunday, January 24, 2010. Children five years and up will be able to make music, hear their own heartbeat and even see vibration in this interactive exhibition on music, motion and mobility. Children will be able to experiment with the various components of the exhibition and try out things on their own. The exhibition helps children experience pitches tangibly with the help of its numerous curious contraptions, among them “sounding exhibitions” that have to do with automobiles, transportation and mobility. Children will be able to create their own pieces of music with a steering wheel and even test out a string instrument built from a Sprinter tank. What would it be like to make a rhythm from car sounds? This, too, will be possible … by dancing on a musical carpet!
The concept behind the exhibition was developed by the Mobile Music Museum of Dusseldorf. Creator Michael Bradke will be on location at the opening of the exhibition to introduce the exhibition. After the show at 11:00 am and 3:00 pm, there will be a tour in the morning and a workshop in the afternoon where children will be able to make their own instruments. Both will be free of cost to the public, as will entry to the exhibition. “ExplorExhibition: Sounding Bodies” will be open to the public Tuesday through Sunday from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. Advance registration is recommended for school classes and other children’s groups.
