This open-air exhibition comprises thirty drums measuring 20-50 cm in diameter, helipipers, chimes, slam organs, monster flutes and call-in-hear-out pipes, all built from and mounted within eighty meters of piping from underground construction sites.

Oodles of angled gussets. An abundance of bifurcations. This huge, constantly evolving communications system of pipes is like a massive musical toolbox, fit for a giant – a gargantuan, labyrinthine sound sculpture that brings delight to parents and children alike.

This exhibition was originally created for the 1992 “Child-Friendly City of Sarstedt” pilot project. It was further developed for the TeleTamTam project with the Rheinisches Industriemuseum of Oberhausen and Ratingen in cooperation with Mannesmann, Deutsche Telekom AG and with the ZOOM children’s museum of Vienna, the Bibiana children’s museum in Bratislava and the Krasnojarsk Museumsbienale in Siberia as well as the Kunstsammlung NRW.
